“Wow….where do I begin with my journey at Homebrew Crossfit? It seems like yesterday that I hesitantly signed up for Boot Camp.. I did so to show support for my Nephew and his wife who were leading it at that time, and to my surprise, I absolutely loved it. I have always been one to exercise, in fact I have people tell me they refer to me as the girl that walks all the time no matter what the weather may be! And yes that is me..I believe in exercise, I look at it as a mental health release! So my six week boot camp turned into two boot camps and finally Zach told me it was time to join CrossFit. I told him that I couldn’t possibly lift weights like the professionals and he said yes you can and here I am today. No I am not the strongest and I don’t think I have ever did an RX workout but I am always there doing what is best for me, and the best part is no one judges you, but just the opposite you get encouragement.
I have now been there for 3 years and I get so sad when I have to miss a workout mainly because of the feeling of satisfaction after you get through a workout and the friendships I have formed along the way.
Back in September of last year I started having hip issues, thinking it was just a pulled muscle. After learning more about it, the Dr. called it Hip Dysplasia (a genetic issue). Under the guidance of my coaches, I worked out until the week before my surgery. My surgery did come FINALLY after the Covid shutdown and what relief I had. I did my PT for the assigned number of weeks and I was the happiest person around to be released and able to get back in the gym. It has been 7 months since my surgery and I am just about back to “my” normal pace and strength at workouts with lots of love and support from my gym friends, instructors, and owners.
I am blessed to be able to workout with my two children. My daughter has found a second home in the gym and it is truly amazing to watch her transformation with weight loss AND her passion for exercise grow. Today, you can’t keep her away from the gym. I also have my son who works out at Homebrew as well. It is so
awesome to do a workout with my children. As you can tell I am a huge fan of my gym and would like to thank the owners and instructors who make it such a great place to workout!!”
